About Birdland

Three brothers.
One band.

Birdland are Oscar, Francis, and Conrad Cvitan — identical triplets from Mt Lawley, Perth, Western Australia. They've always made music together, but it wasn't until 2019, when Oscar switched from cello to bass guitar, that the band fully took shape.

Francis writes the songs. He studies structure obsessively — breaking down records he loves, from Olivia Rodrigo's Vampire to Rex Orange County's Pluto Projector, before bringing the ideas to the brothers to build into something together.

The result is a sound that's energetic, melodic and oddly timeless for a band this young. In 2025 they dropped five singles, earned a WAM Pop Act of the Year nomination, sold out local shows, played the Beaufort Beats stage at The Elford, and headlined the Future Treasures Showcase at Fremantle Town Hall.

In 2026 they opened the year with Maybe Lately and are working toward something bigger. They have nine or ten original songs in the bag. An EP is coming.

The Band

Francis

Guitar & Vocals

The primary songwriter. Francis has a studious, obsessive ear — he dissects the records he loves to understand why they work, then brings those ideas to the brothers. He studied the structural arc of Olivia Rodrigo's Vampire and Rex Orange County's Pluto Projector the way a composer studies a score.

Oscar

Bass & Vocals

Originally a cellist, Oscar switched to bass guitar in 2019 and quickly became the rhythmic foundation. He also handles much of the band's strategy and administration — making sure Birdland moves as fast as it should.

Conrad

Drums

Conrad is the engine. His drumming gives the band its drive and dynamic range — equally at home on a stripped acoustic track as a full live set.
